Most cases involve a right to appeal your decision to a higher court. In Vermont, appeals go right to the Supreme Court of Vermont. We prepare the case on appeal, including the appellate briefs, and present the arguments in the Supreme Court. In two notable cases, Attorney Davis briefed and argued an appeal to the Supreme Court in a juvenile matter while still in law school, and Attorney Bucknam recently successfully appealed Turner v. Shumlin, where the Supreme Court held that the Vermont Constitution did not allow then-Governor Shumlin to appoint a Supreme Court justice in anticipation of a vacancy set to occur after Governor Shumlin left office.
